The Fried Chicken ($12.95) wasn’t exactly how I imagined it would be. The large elbow macaroni made the perfect vessel for the heavy cream sauce and I was quite pleased with the ample amount of bacon that came in this dish.

I ordered the Roasted Garlic and Bacon Mac ($12.95) served with roasted garlic and bacon pieces in a heavy cream reduction with parmesan cheese.

Le Bistro Montage is known for their macaroni and cheese so I knew that I wanted to try that.

This salad came with the dinner plate and was accompanied with a pleasingly tart raspberry vinaigrette. They suggested a Portland Punch instead, which I agreed to… but they wound up giving me a Lemonade instead (which actually was quite refreshing). I originally wanted to try their POG (passion fruit, orange, and guava juice) but they were all out. I suppose that’s to be expected in a place like Portland (known for their “Keep Portland Weird slogan”). Service was a little peculiar (or at least our server was). Speaking to their cajun-inspired menu offerings, the napkins were folded into the shape of a fleur de lis. Along the walls, there are large custom paintings. Instead, they have candlelights on the linen-covered communal tables. The interior is fairly dark as not much light comes in from the windows. At first, we couldn’t tell if it was open because the front door seemed to have a metal gate on it but we saw patrons inside so we went inside.

This restaurant is located in the Central Eastside Industrial District right under the SE Morrison Bridge with plenty of free street-side parking. We were originally going to try Screen Door but it was so busy that we wound up at Le Bistro Montage instead. Since we wanted to get some shopping done, we decided to stop off for some dinner first. By the way, there is still a little living room area if you just want to get a coffee and hang out.Our 6 hour drive down from Vancouver, BC to Portland turned into a 9 hour trip due to a major accident on the I5 as well as numerous traffic snarl-ups. Perfect for a date, dining out with a few friends or even going solo. The ambiance is cheery and cozy and hip-all at the same time. I did get a chocolate croissant to go which was flaky and tasty. The desserts look heavenly, and I must go back to just have dessert & coffee. I wish they would add a few more veggies (side dish) on the plate with the entrees. The prices are a little lower than most restaurants of the same quality, but the portions are a little smaller, too. Next time, I might try the chicken & dumplings. I also had a special sole piccata that had just the right amount of lemon and capers. For dinner there, I have had the pork with chutney which was flavorsome and perfectly prepared. The menu offers a variety of lunch sandwiches that taste great & really fill you up. This coffee house recently converted to a bistro they made the right decision! The food is all freshly prepared and delicious. Pilot Station and Coffee Girl on Pier 39 much better for atmosphere and view The view outside is fair, if you like being right on the road. The Service and lower end coffee (disappointing considering they are using Stumptown coffee) really set me to rate it poor, despite the aggregate probably being more average overall. I rated it poor because I don't care if you can do flowers with the foam on my coffee, I want it to taste good more than anything else. (those coffee shops are listed later) The Value was average, if that. Go find waterfront coffee shops for that-they're built in renovated historic buildings and still have original timbers from as far back as 1920's still in them. The Atmosphere was nice! It is unique, but I wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for a historic/traditional Astorian atmosphere. This barista made me a great looking, average tasting, more expensive than other area coffee shops white mocha. This place reminds me of said restaurant.

Ever been to the Montage in Portland? It's known for good food and rude, careless servers.
